In-Universe Books to Keep

    I love books. Other than magic swords, they are my favorite kind of loot, probably because the best treasure is the kind that permanently changes your character. What better way to change than by learning! I have made an effort to make books and reading more central to character advancement in my Deseret Hexcrawl, and I realized that the only way to make that viable was to have an easy way to make lots and lots of books for characters to find while crawling through ancient temples, vaults, and castles. This HTML generator, using the tool created by Spwack, is my attempt to produce a GM-facing tool that will help make that happen.

  1. Stupendous work! I love finding generators out in the wild, did you have any trouble using it? Anything you'd like to see in the next version?

    1. I've never done anything in HTML or anything similar, so there definitely was a learning curve. That being said, I was able to go from knowing nothing to making something I'm happy with in a few hours. I do not know what is reasonable to fix in a future version, but what I found must frustrating is being unable to modify between the articles "a" and "an", or picking a consistent pronoun that remains constant throughout the table result.

      In any case, thank you for developing your HTML generator. It's truly a handy piece of work.

    2. Very glad to hear it, and you're completely welcome! I've found the best way to deal with "a"/"an" is to include the "n" in the table result. For instance you might have:

      A{entry}

      Entry
      n alligator
      turtle
      n albatross
      squid

      Notice the use of spaces in entries starting with a consonant. It's definitely not intuitive though!

    3. Actually it turns out that the comment system deletes lines starting with a space. You'll just have to imagine them!
